What to watch: House of Cards

House of cards

House of Cards is back! For those of you who already know what's that show about, you should know that the second season is available on Netflix! For those of you who don't know what House of Cards is, you
are missing a lot.

I am not a fan of the political dramas. I am not a fan of political movies at all. But I am a huge fan of Kevin Spacey. If it wasn't for him I would probably never start watching these series. Yeah, I know, I am the worst kind of a viewer... I shouldn't watch movies only because of the actors. I normally don't but sometimes when I am skeptical about some movie, I can give it a try just because of the actor.
That's what I did with House of Cards. I knew it's an adaptation of a BBC series, but that's all. I didn't expect much but after the first episode I was in love with the series. It has one of the best pilot episodes I ever watched in a show.

It's a story about the congressman Francis "Frank" Underwood who helped to the president to get elected in return of appointment as Secretary of State. However, after the president got elected he didn't keep his promise to Frank. Underwood is furious and starts seeking revenge. He has the help of his wife as they both gaining more power.

It's a brilliantly written mini-series. Kevin Spacey is phenomenal like always and the cinematography is amazing. I really love how he would have these little conversations with the viewer, without the other characters noticing. House of Cards is one of the best political dramas you will ever watch.

Go an watch it on Netflix, or get the first season on DVD from Amazon from here.

  3. I'm all about TV shows (over movies) and since canceling cable- this is totally right up my alley. I think it's next after I finish Sons of Anarchy :)

  4. Excellent show! Some of my personal favourites include: Suits, Shameless, Game of Thrones, True Detective, The Wire, The Newsroom, Breaking Bad, and Spartacus. Those are the bigger budget shows but Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, How I Met Your Mother, The League and Men at Work are some of my fav comedies. Also, the timeless classic that is Married with Children is probably by far the best comedic show.

But one of my absolute favourite shows of all time is Freaks and Geeks. If you haven't seen it then you'd be one of many because almost everyone missed out on this gem, which led to its cancellation. It follows the lives of kids in their teenage years and deals with issues every kid goes through. I think anyone can relate to this show, and the music in the show is just awesome.
